Base color
LMS & rod model
Image simulation
Research notes
Hybrid Blue-Cone Monochromacy (research) converts linear
sRGB → LMS (selected model), removes L and M cone responses, and
reconstructs colour solely from the S-cone channel. A minimal rod-based
luminance fallback stabilises brightness without introducing chromatic
bias. Severity blends continuously between normal vision and BCM.
This is a research-oriented perceptual model, not a clinical diagnostic.

Clinical notes: BCM cone weights reflect L=0, M=0, S=1 (pure S-cone). Adjusting weights
allows research exploration of partial cone contributions and rod-assisted luminance fallback. Not a
clinical
diagnostic tool — see model assumptions for limits.
Model assumptions & limits
- This model operates via sRGB → LMS transform; accuracy depends on the chosen LMS matrix.
- Severity curves are heuristic (linear/sigmoid/gamma) and do not replace clinical diagnoses.
- ΔE and chromaticity measures use standard CIE conversions but depend on display/profile.
